Text Support Now Available

November 03, 2018

For some people in distress, reaching out and talking on the phone can be intimidating, especially for anyone who uses text as their usual form of communication.  Many people find it feels easier to express emotion by typing instead of talking out loud.  Whatever the reason, the Canadian Suicide Prevention Service encourages anyone having thoughts of suicide to reach out by whatever means they are most comfortable with - either phone or text, whether for yourself or for someone else.

The Responders who answer your texts want to be there to support you in the struggles you are facing, learn more about your thoughts of suicide and explore ways to create safety when things are feeling out of control.  Reaching out can be scary but taking that step – by text or by phone - can help you feel less alone when you need it the most.  You are worth it - your life matters.
